Althea Hall has been interested in book arts for many years beginning when she
started her career as a classroom teacher in New York City. She made books and
paper with her students to encourage them to develop literacy skills and share her
love of books. Some years ago she was introduced to artist books in a class taught
by Esther Smith at the Cooper Union. Althea continued her study of bookbinding
with Susan Mills and has been exploring and developing bookbinding and artist
books ever since. She is retired from full-time university teaching and now
resides in Salisbury, Maryland where she continues to pursue her interests in
artist books.
